Interior design is always evolving, reflecting our shifting lifestyles, values, and aesthetics. As we step into 2025, certain popular trends are taking a backseat to make way for fresh and innovative ideas. Whether you’re staging your home for sale or planning a redesign, here’s a closer look at the trends that will be on their way out this year, inspired by industry insights:
1. Open Kitchen Shelving: Closing the Door on Open Cabinetry
Open shelving, once beloved for its airy aesthetic, is losing its charm due to the dust and clutter it invites. In 2025, homeowners are opting for closed cabinetry with furniture-inspired designs, prioritizing practicality and sleek organization. A shelf or two for decor is fine, but closed storage is the real winner—especially when prepping your home for sale.
2. Fast Furniture: Out with the Disposable
Mass-produced, inexpensive furniture that sacrifices quality for cost is losing its appeal. Sustainability is taking center st ...

At BELL Home Team, community support is at the heart of everything we do. This year, we are thrilled to share the success of our diaper drive for the CNY Diaper Bank, an incredible organization dedicated to providing diapers to families in need throughout Central New York.
Thanks to the generosity of our community and the dedication of our team, we were able to donate 1,700 diapers along with a $1,000 monetary contribution to this impactful cause. This donation will serve close to 200 babies, helping local families manage one of the most essential—and often overlooked—needs.
Why Diapers Matter
Diapers are not covered by government programs like WIC or SNAP, leaving many families struggling to afford this necessity. The CNY Diaper Bank works tirelessly to fill this gap by partnering with local food pantries, shelters, childcare centers, and social service agencies. Their extensive network ensures that free diapers reach the families who need them most.
A Team Effort

As winter looms on the horizon, Central New Yorkers are gearing up for a season that promises to be wetter than usual. According to the Farmers’ Almanac, the 2024-2025 winter season for the Northeast, including Onondaga and Oswego counties, is shaping up to be a mix of rain, snow, and fluctuating temperatures. Zone 1, which encompasses our region, can expect a milder winter overall—a stark contrast to the snow-filled scenes we’re used to. But how will this winter weather impact the real estate market in Central New York? Let’s dive in.
What to Expect This Winter
The Farmers’ Almanac predicts a winter of:
Above-average precipitation: Rain will dominate many storms, reducing the frequency of heavy snowfalls.
Variable temperatures: Expect weather whiplash as milder days give way to brief cold snaps and vice versa.
Less snow, more slush: While some areas might still see their fair share of snow, rain and mixed precipitation will likely steal the show. ...

As the holiday season approaches, many of us are gearing up for gift exchanges, festive meals, and sparkling decorations. But with all the joy also comes a significant increase in waste. Wrapping paper, gift boxes, and holiday cards pile up, and it’s easy to wonder what to do with it all. That’s where Onondaga County Resource Recovery Agency (OCRRA) steps in with helpful guidelines to keep your holiday season sustainable and eco-friendly.
Here’s how you can celebrate while reducing your environmental impact:
Wrapping Paper and Gift Bags
Did you know that not all wrapping paper is recyclable? If it’s metallic, glittery, or has a plastic coating, it should go in the trash. Stick to simple, non-glossy paper for wrapping your gifts. Better yet, consider reusable options like fabric wraps or decorative boxes. Gift bags, if not glossy or metallic, can be recycled, but reuse them when possible for extra eco-points!
Holiday Cards
Holiday cards bring cheer, but ma ...
